This week at Zion United

There was a great crowd in church today. We had Rev. Sheila's son, Troy, and his wife Crystal and their 3 young girls, Eva, Abigail & Evelyn with us. I am sure that made for a lively Sunday school with Randi Dickie.

It is nice to see so many children in church. Robbie enjoys this and Rev Sheila can spread the Gospel according to Robbie with the children.

Next week, Rev. Sheila will be away on conference and Dan MacLaren will be conduting the service. We will be having a special camping Sunday service.

Please come in casual dress t celebrate camping. Dress for camping and wear your camp fire hat.

As you know the United Church has a summer camp for all ages and dynamics, and registration is possible as of now at their website, www.sherbrookelakecamp.org. They are getting ready for 2013 camping season and invite you to come out and help us get camp ready for the summer. Camp cleanup is April 27th
starting at 8:30am rain or shine.

April 18th - Pilgrim Walk sponsored by the South Queens Ministerial Association

2:30pm - Join the Crosses together at the Irving Service Station. (A symbol of Unity)

We will walk from the Irving down Bristol Ave to Main Street, Main Street to Old Bridge St, Church St. to Union St., Union St. to Main Street.

Refreshments will be served following the service at Liverpool Baptist Church. Walkers are welcomed to join the walk anywhere along the route.

Cars/Vans will also be made available for those who are unable to walk.

Sat. April, 12th at 7 p.m. Milton Baptist Church presents a dramatic recitation of Jesus’ final hours, Resurrection, & Great Commission - ‘Stop and See, Go and Tell’ featuring ‘The Sound of Men’.

Gifts of Celtic Christianity: Lenten Study

Tuesday, March 11, - Tuesday April 15th, six weeks at 2pm at Gorham Hall, led by Rev Sheila. Sign up at the Church or call Rev Sheila on 350-6814.

May 10th - The Annual Zion United Bazaar is back this year. This is a call for items to be donated. So as you start to spring clean and purge, think about donating any excess items to Zion for silent auction table, miscellaneous table, plant table, book table, kids toys table and the yard sale table. Please call Shirley Shot 354-3291, Carol Baker 356-2193 or Shaune MacLeod 354-2219, if you have items or you would like further information on this fundraiser.

Membership Classes: will be offered for those who are interested in exploring what it means to be baptized and/or confirmed and become a member of the United Church of Canada. If you are interested in learning more, or would like to transfer your membership to Zion, please speak to Rev. Sheila 350-6814.

SNOW POLICY
At the regular meeting of the Church Board, it was decided that the Clerk of Session, Chair of Worship Service and the Minister will make the decision when it is necessary to cancel worship service due to inclement weather.

So if you are in doubt as to whether worship service will be held, please call the church office: 354-5851 for a recorded message. Please let the phone ring several times and wait for the recorded message; as well, a radio announcement will be made. We will try to have the announcement on the church answering machine by 8am, should the serivce need to be cancelled.

Volunteer Income Tax Program for Residents of Queens County. 4:30 p.m. at the T.H. Raddall Library Appointments will begin on Friday, February 14th, 2014, and will continue until mid April. For more information about the program, or to make an appointment, please call 354-5741. Please note that appointments are required as this is not a drop in service.

Free, RCMP Adult (55+) Safety Academy, Brooklyn Baptist Church, 32 Shore Rd., Wed., afternoons 1-3, April 2 – April 23. Attend as many sessions as you like, some new topics – balance/dizziness, Alzheimer’s and more. Light refreshments.
